In this project you will be learning about the Binary counting system.

Understanding Binary

Bronze Criteria

  • You understand the difference between the binary and decimal number systems
  • You can convert binary numbers in to decimal numbers with support
  • You can convert decimal numbers in to binary with support

Silver Criteria

  • You understand and explain the difference between the binary and decimal number systems
  • You can convert 8-bit binary in to decimal numbers independently
  • You can convert decimal numbers in to 8-bit binary independently
  • You understand what ASCII is and how it can be used to convert binary in to letters and symbols
  • You can apply all of your knowledge to create coded messages in binary that your peers can decode using ASCII

Gold Criteria

  • You can add, subtract and multiply binary numbers
  • You understand gate logic: AND, NOT, OR, and follow worked examples
